Angel Reese prop vs. Aces: Another double-double for Sky star rookie?
Thanks to the influx of extraordinary young talent, the popularity of the WNBA is blowing up. Unsurprisingly, the betting markets are too. Showing respect to the wonderful women’s game, this gambler will occasionally dip his toe in the WNBA wagering waters.
The pick — SGP: Angel Reese 10+ points, Angel Reese 10+ rebounds, Sky 80+ points vs. Aces (+110, Caesars)
- Caesars Offer: Up to $1000 Back in Bonus Bets
Take or leave her self-described “dog” demeanor, Reese is a huge reason why the WNBA is growing by leaps and bounds. The latest must-see showdown against fellow rookie star Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever — another heart stopper won by the Chicago Sky 88-87 in the waning moments — drew a record-setting 2.3 million viewers.
Sports fans love drama. And they love rivalries. Bird vs. Magic reborn? It sure feels that way.
Doing her best Tim Duncan impression in recent days, the Queen of Controversy has morphed into a statistical monster. Reese has averaged 14.7 points and 13.1 rebounds in June and logged eight-straight double-doubles. That’s unreal consistency.
Her midrange game is still a work in progress, but she’s corralling errant shots and converting on close-proximity opportunities to become one of the most unstoppable post players in the W. In what should be a shock to no one, her Rookie of the Year odds have sharply tumbled.
Just one week ago, they stood at +1200. Now, they’re at +600 (FanDuel). Reese is firmly in contention to take home the esteemed honor over her archnemesis, Clark.
On Thursday. the Sky forward has the tall task of containing the league’s runaway MVP, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson. Bank on Reese rising to the occasion.
This season, the Aces have yielded the fifth-most points per game (84.6) but the fifth-fewest rebounds per game (34.6). Still, given a likely high-possession contest — Las Vegas ranks No. 1 in pace — Reese is in an excellent position to record another 10 points and 10 boards.
Throw in Chicago topping 78+ points for the seventh time in its last eight games, and plus money is achieved.
Keep the divine results coming, Angel.
WNBA season record: 8-6, +3.46 units
