Friday
#5 Oregon vs #Washington
Oregon -9 or -9.5 Splits WASHINGTON (51% money/71% bets)
Total 65.5 Splits OVER (54% money/65% bets)
If you are wondering why this spread is so high, so am I. I think it’s too many points, but am slightly hesitant from all the pro action on Oregon thus far. Having said this, as I was typing up this article, we just saw some support on Washington. The line just ticked off of 10 and is now -9 or -9.5 everywhere. Perhaps all the Washington money was waiting to get that coveted +10. We’ve seen some support on the under as this has ticked down from 67. There is a slight pros vs joes split even though the majority of the money is on the over. 65 is about as low as I would bet this under, if you missed the best of the number.
Saturday
#19 Oklahoma St vs #7 Texas
Texas -14.5 thru -15.5 Splits OKLAHOMA ST(52% money/56%bets)
Total 54.5 thru 55.5 Splits OVER (74% money/82% bets)
Another one that just seems like a lot of points. Oklahoma St has not looked great since they upset Oklahoma. But they are still in the championship game and if not for struggling vs BYU, they’ve been impressive. I personally throw out that 45-3 loss to UCF. They were coming off of an emotional win the previous week and just mailed it in after getting down early. This is upset time of the year. I can’t really see Texas losing, but it could happen. Main thing to keep in mind if you are taking the points, is Texas will be thinking about style points to impress the committee to make the playoffs. If Texas is up big towards the end of the game, you may find a good live opportunity on Texas to run it up. Food for thought.
#1 Georgia vs #8 Alabama
Georgia -5.5 Splits GEORGIA (71% money/63% bets)
Total 54.5 Splits OVER (86% money/81% bets)
This spread has been all over the place. It opened up UGA -3.5 got bet up to -6, and now settling at 5.5, as of Friday. I think it is the perfect line and don’t see much of an edge on either team. I can see Bama winning and keeping it within 3 or 4, or Georgia winning by 7 plus. There was a downtick in the total at the beginning of the week pushing this down to as low as 53.5. It seems like the over money has come in now and I expect this to continue higher. I just don’t see how this game stays low scoring. This SEC title game has been high scoring averaging 71 per game the last 5 years.
