With tonight very likely the final day of the long NBA season, let's take a look at where things stand in terms of futures bets on the Nuggets and the Heat.
Final Countdown?
Just 48 minutes away from their first NBA title in franchise history, the Denver Nuggets sit at -6000 on Fanduel to finish the job. Pre-season backers are sitting on a nice profit, with their $100 futures being currently valued over $1,450. Jokic has continued to prove unstoppable in this series, and is the runaway favorite for Finals MVP. When Jokic has been forced to pass, his teammates have stepped up tremendously, particularly Jamal Murray. Murray has established himself as a bonafide star, and a clear Robin to the best player in the world.
Deep Pockets
In addition to their stars, Denver has gotten great contributions from a plethora of guys, including Aaron Gordon, KCP, and Christian Braun. On the other hand, while Miami’s role players were incredible all postseason long to get them to this point, they have disappeared on the biggest stage. Max Strus, Gabe Vincent and others who could do no wrong against Boston, have been overmatched by the talent of Denver.
Where is HIMMY?
Miami is 24/1 to come back and win this series. While the value is juicy, it is hard to imagine that coming to fruition. Jimmy Butler has not looked like his usual playoff self, and without HIM taking over, the Heat all but done. While the run was magical down in South Beach, it appears to be crashing to an end. While the Heat season is crashing and burning, that does not mean your futures bet has to.
Take the money and run?
A current $100 title bet on Miami is still worth $79. With little to no chance of coming back to cash that ticket, it might be wise to take your money and run. Nuggets in 5 is on its way, although we would love to extend this NBA season at least a couple more nights.
