Eugenio Suárez has signed with the Reds on a one-year, $15 million contract. At the trade deadline last season, he was one of the most coveted players in baseball, ranking among the league leaders in home runs at the time. Through 106 games with Arizona in 2025, Suárez slashed .248 with 36 home runs, 87 RBIs, and a massive .576 slugging percentage. That breakout campaign led to a deadline deal with the Mariners, who sent three pitching prospects to acquire his power bat.
However, Suárez regressed after the trade. In 53 games with Seattle, he hit just .189 while adding 13 home runs. Despite the drop-off, he delivered in the postseason, helping the Mariners make a deep playoff run that ended one game short of the World Series. Seattle fans will forever remember Game 5, when Suárez launched a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning against the Blue Jays, putting the Mariners up 3-2 in the series vs the Blue Jays
This acquisition slightly improved the Reds’ World Series odds on FanDuel. The day before signing Eugenio Suárez, Cincinnati was listed at +4500. As of today, those odds have shortened to +4000.

Now, Suárez returns to the franchise where he spent seven seasons. Great American Ball Park is one of the most hitter-friendly stadiums in baseball, which could help sustain his power numbers, but the underlying trends suggest some regression may still be coming.
