Ben Simmons is looking to make his return to the NBA, with the former No. 1 overall pick reportedly already receiving interest from several teams. Simmons is expected to participate fully with “zero restrictions” at an upcoming players-led Australian National Team mini-camp. The opportunity will give teams another chance to evaluate where the 6-foot-10 guard stands physically as he attempts to rebuild his career.
The Australian native has reportedly regained his athleticism, a major development for a player whose combination of size, speed, and playmaking once made him one of the league's most intriguing young stars.
Simmons is also reportedly open to signing for the veteran minimum, potentially making him a low-risk addition for a team willing to bet on his upside. If he can stay healthy and rediscover his explosiveness, Simmons could have an opportunity to revive his NBA career and be an immediate contributor for a contender.
He has failed to average over 10 PPG since his last year with the 76ers in 2020-2021, but he impacts the game in all the other areas besides scoring and shooting. He has the tools to be an elite defender, is a great rebounder, and in my opinion one of the best playmakers in the league with his vision and passing ability.
