New York Jets (0-0) vs Cleveland Browns (0-0)

Ladies and gentlemen, we have made it to football season!  I know it’s just a preseason game and many of the big names won’t even be on the field, but it is still football.

The Betting Market

There has been significant line movement on this game.  Cleveland opened as 3 point favorites and now the Jets are the favorite.  Interestingly, you can find a -1.5 and a +2.5 in the market.  1 and 2 are key numbers in preseason (more on that later).  With The total in this game is 33.5 everywhere right now.  It opened at 34.  Got bet down to 31.5, and then a betting syndicate came in with the over and it has jumped back up to 33.5.  It seems like a pretty even split on the total.  It will be important to see where the next line moves to determine what the books have liability on.

Betting this game

I don’t have a strong take on this one.  I have a small bet on the under 34 from a few weeks ago.  If things go the way I want them too, I would love for the game to start out slow and low scoring so I can then bet the over at a lower number and catch a middle.  The market has spoken and likes the Jets.  If you like the Jets, you should consider taking them on the moneyline vs the spread.  In preseason, games land on 1 and 2 all the time.  The reason for this is that teams don’t try to tie or go to overtime.  Teams will often go for it or go for 2 to prevent a game from ending in a tie.

Where to bet the game
