The New York Yankees received some concerning news regarding superstar Aaron Judge, as manager Aaron Boone announced that Judge will see a specialist for additional testing on the bone bruise in his right ribcage.
“It’s kind of a unique spot,” Boone told reporters. “We’ll have the specialist probably look at it tomorrow and see where we’re at and see how he feels with it.”
The injury first became noticeable on Sunday when Judge was removed from the game in the eighth inning before what would have been his final at-bat. At the time, many hoped it was simply precautionary as the Yankees were up 6 runs, but the decision to send him for further evaluation suggests the Yankees are taking the situation very seriously.
Whenever Aaron Judge is dealing with an injury, Yankees fans naturally become nervous. Judge has been one of the best players in baseball when healthy, but his career has also been marked by several significant injuries that have interrupted seasons and forced the Yankees to navigate lengthy absences from their franchise cornerstone.

That is why some fans may be skeptical of the messaging coming from Boone. Fair or not, Boone has developed a reputation among portions of the fanbase for initially downplaying injuries before they ultimately prove more serious than expected. Whether it's because the organization is still gathering information or simply trying not to speculate publicly, Yankees fans have seen enough situations over the years to be cautious whenever the manager describes an injury as minor or day-to-day.
For now, the Yankees will wait for the specialist's evaluation and hope the injury is nothing more than a painful bone bruise. But until those results come back, there will be plenty of anxiety in the Bronx surrounding the health of the team's biggest star.
