According to Kevin O’Connor, the Golden State Warriors are attempting to trade for Anthony Davis and then potentially sign LeBron James, creating what would instantly become one of the most star-studded teams in league history.
If the Warriors somehow managed to pull it off, it would reunite LeBron and Davis while also pairing them with Stephen Curry. On paper, it sounds almost unreal, but the rumor has already sent NBA fans into a frenzy across social media.
For Golden State, the move would represent one final all-in championship push during the closing years of Curry’s prime. The Warriors have been searching for another superstar alongside Curry ever since their dynasty core began aging, and adding Davis would immediately solve many of their defensive and interior issues.
Then comes the LeBron factor.
James has repeatedly stated he wants to compete for championships at this stage of his career, and after another disappointing Lakers season filled with questions about the roster’s future, speculation surrounding his future has only intensified. LeBron recently said, “I don’t know what the future holds for me,” adding even more fuel to offseason rumors. The basketball fit itself would be fascinating. Curry’s spacing alongside LeBron’s playmaking and Davis’ interior dominance would create matchup nightmares offensively, while Davis would be able to provide a much-needed protector.
Of course, there are still massive obstacles with salary fit and being able to get this done. The rumor alone shows how aggressively the Warriors may be preparing to become this offseason. With Curry turning 39 next season, Golden State knows its championship window is rapidly closing.
And if there’s one thing the NBA has taught fans over the years, it’s to never completely dismiss superstar rumors, especially when LeBron James is involved.
