There is no better sporting event on the calendar than March Madness and after a long and cold winter, it has finally arrived. The 68 team single elimination tournament also happens to be the perfect use case for WagerWire, Never before has one been able to trade in and out of their positions during this marvelous tournament. The South Region

This isn’t football season, but the heavy favorite to get to the final 4 out of this region are the Crimson Tide of Alabama. The top dogs in the SEC all year long wound up with the number 1 overall seed in the big dance, and find themselves with short 1.5/1 odds to make it to H-town. And while they might have gotten the top seed overall, they got stuck in an absolutely loaded region of the bracket.

Unafraid of anyone outside of the judicial system, this team cruised through the regular season with only a few hiccups, and rolled over the competition in their conference tournament. While they won’t be challenged in Round 1, they will play a tough second game against the winner of West Virginia and Maryland. Those are two tough-minded teams, who can play with anyone.

Baylor sits at the 3 seed, and is always dangerous come tourney time under Scott Drew. At 6/1, that is a juicy number for a strong Bears squad,  just below the two seeded WIldcats of Arizona who come in at 3.8/1 to make the final 4. Someone will also need to get through Creighton who returned a starting 5 that won 2 games last tournament, before giving Kansas their biggest scare on the way to a title. That is a tourney tested team, with great value at 8.5/1.

With all of those teams feeling good about making a deep run, I am looking at one sleeper that no one is talking about out of the Mountain West Conference. The San Diego State Aztecs are tough, physical, experienced, and play great defense. That is a recipe to win close games in March, and this team won’t be afraid of anyone. This could certainly be a team worth taking a flier on att +15/1 to win the region.

When it is all said and done, I like Alabama to emerge from this region, but I am also playing the value on the Aztecs, and the Creighton Blue Jays.
