For the first time in 27 years, the New York Knicks will host an NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden tonight. A generation of Knicks fans has waited for this moment, and tonight the world's most famous arena is expected to be louder than it has been in decades, and potentially ever.

The last time the Knicks played a Finals game at home was in 1999. Since then, fans have endured rebuilding years, front-office mistakes, coaching changes, and countless playoff disappointments. Now, led by Jalen Brunson and one of the most resilient teams in franchise history, New York is finally back on basketball's biggest stage.
Unfortunately, many of the fans who have waited the longest won't be able to experience it in person. Ticket prices have skyrocketed to historic levels, with even the cheapest seats costing $10000 dollars at one point; now they get in price has been reduced to $5000.. Knicks forward Josh Hart acknowledged the unfortunate reality while speaking to reporters. "I feel like a lot of people who have been waiting for this moment for a very long time, unfortunately aren't able to get into the building, when the cheapest ticket is seven or eight thousand dollars," Hart said. "So that's ridiculous. But it's just going to be rocking. But obviously I wish those were a little cheaper."
Hart's comments struck a chord with fans because he's right. Many of the people who suffered through the lean years, packed the Garden during losing seasons, and remained loyal through decades of frustration are now being priced out of one of the greatest moments in franchise history. It’s brutal, but in the New York Market, this is the reality.
Still, whether fans are inside the arena, outside watching on the streets of Manhattan, or following from home, the energy surrounding this team is unlike anything New York has seen in decades. Now they'll try to take another step toward ending a championship drought that has lasted even longer, with a chance to go up 3-0 tonight at home.
Tonight isn't just another playoff game. It's a moment Knicks fans have been dreaming about for nearly three decades, and Madison Square Garden is ready for its biggest basketball night in a generation.
