This Bettor Won More Money Than Tom Kim Did at The Scottish Open

One bettor turned an incredible prediction into a life-changing payday after cashing a staggering $4,006,800 ticket on Tom Kim. The bettor placed $47,700 on Kim to win the tournament at 84-1 odds, a wager that few would have had the confidence to make. By the end of the week, that risk paid off in spectacular fashion as Kim captured the title and delivered one of the biggest betting payouts of the year. (via @BFawkes22).

Ironically, the bettor actually made far more money than the champion himself. Kim earned $1.575 million for winning the tournament, meaning the winning ticket paid out more than 2.5 times the champion's prize money.

Kim's victory was fueled by an incredible closing stretch which we’ve seen from him recently, especially at the U.S Open where he had a 3rd place finish. He fired a 6-under 64 in Sunday's final round to finish 17-under par, and remarkably made just one bogey over his final 51 holes of the tournament.

Massive outright golf bets are always difficult to hit, but turning a $47,700 wager into more than $4 million is the type of ticket bettors dream about. It's another reminder that when the right long shot comes through, the sportsbook can end up paying out far more than the tournament itself.
