Cleveland Browns (1-1) @ Philadelphia Eagles (0-1)
Eagles - 3.5
Total 37.5 - 38.5
The Browns should a lack luster performance last week pretty much being dominated the entire game. Meanwhile, Philadelphia gave the Ravens (who have won 24 in a row) a game, losing 20-19. A popular play by pros in preseason is to play the team that lost game 1 vs a team that won a game. Even though it is preseason, most teams don’t want to finish with all loses. Money has gotten down on the eagles and pushed this line from Philly -1 to -3.5, and even touched -4. Money also looks to be coming in on the over with many books going from 37.5 to 38 or 38.5.
Carolina Panthers (0-1) at New York Giants (0-1)
Giants -3
Total 38.5 - 39.5
Both teams are coming off losses. The Panthers got shutout 27-0 and certainly have something to prove offensively this week. This may be why the majority of the money has come in on the over in this game with 74% of the money but only 33% of the bets signaling a wiseguy split. The early handle is also on Carolina and the points with 60% of the money but only 35% of the bets.
Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) @ Atlanta Falcons (1-0)
Falcons -6.5
Total 38.5
Early money and bets are on the Bengals and the points, which I can understand. 6 or more points is a lot in a preseason game, which I think is the angle here. The last thing people saw was the Bengals being blown out and the Falcons winning big. This has led to an inflated line and a buy low opportunity on the Bengals. Having said that, head coach Zac Taylor of the Bengals does not have a good record in the preseason at 3-8 and tends to win one per year. Could this be the one?
