The college basketball transfer portal is heating up, and several big names are already making waves across the country.
Miles Byrd, the San Diego State Aztecs transfer, is expected to commit to Providence Friars today, giving Providence a major addition on the wing.
Meanwhile, Flory Bidunga, the top-rated player in the portal and former Kansas Jayhawks center, is already narrowing things down. His reported top four includes Michigan Wolverines, Duke Blue Devils, St. John's Red Storm, and Louisville Cardinals.
Alex Wilkins is another name rising quickly. The Furman Paladins freshman turned heads with a standout performance against UConn Huskies in the NCAA Tournament, and now has over 25 schools showing interest.
One of the biggest surprises in the portal is John Blackwell. The former Wisconsin Badgers guard averaged 19.1 PPG and entered the portal in search of a better opportunity to compete for a national championship.
In the frontcourt, Massamba Diop, the Arizona State Sun Devils center and one of the top bigs available, has entered the portal with a “do not contact” tag. St. John's Red Storm and Gonzaga Bulldogs are rumored to be the primary landing spots.
And then there’s PJ Haggerty, one of the best scorers in the country who is set to look for his fifth school in five years. He’ll draw heavy interest across the board and command a significant price in the portal market.
