UFC Fight Night

This weekend’s UFC Vegas 70 fight card will be headlined by Ryan Spann and Nikita Krylov facing off in a battle of ranked light heavyweights with their eyes set on moving up the divisional ladder. Beyond the main event, there are currently twelve other fights scheduled for this card, which will be taking place on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. While this is another UFC Fight Night card that isn’t necessarily heavy on household names, there are still plenty of exciting fights sprinkled throughout this one.

Krylov and Spann are two of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC’s light heavyweight division with a combined 44 stoppages between them. Krylov is 29–9 with 26 wins via stoppage on his record, while Spann is 21–7 with 18 stoppages of his own. While both are extremely talented finishers, they have both been prone to being stopped themselves in the past as well, with Krylov being stopped in seven of his nine losses and Spann being stopped in five of his seven. Both fighters enter on two-fight winning streaks, and while neither is in the immediate title picture right now within the division, a statement-making victory on Saturday would certainly put the winner into the conversation.

Andre Muniz vs Brendan Allen is another big fight on this card with potential future title picture implications. Muniz is currently ranked at #11 in the UFC middleweight division and has gone 7–0 so far between the UFC and Dana White’s Contender Series. He’s 23–4 overall with 19 of his wins coming via stoppage and 15 of them by submission. He’ll arguably be facing his toughest opponent to date in the UFC this weekend in Allen, who is 20–5 with 16 stoppages of his own. While Allen is unranked, he has put together an impressive 8–2 start to his time in the UFC and enters this one on a three-fight winning streak.

One fight that will certainly draw a lot of attention is Tatiana Suarez vs Montana De La Rosa. Suarez is a perfect 9–0 and will be making her long-awaited return to the octagon after a lengthy layoff riddled by injuries. Her last fight was in June 2019 against Nina Nunes, and she also holds impressive stoppage victories over Carla Esparza and Alexa Grasso in the UFC. For context, Esparza is a two-time UFC Strawweight division champion, while Grasso is competing for the UFC Flyweight title next weekend at UFC 285. It will be interesting to see how Suarez looks in her return against De La Rosa, who is 12–7–1 in her career and looking to bounce back from a loss in her most recent fight.

In addition to those fights, there are quite a few fighters who will be making their UFC debuts on this weekend’s card. There are seven fighters who will be making their first walks to the octagon, but perhaps the most interesting one to keep an eye on is Trevor Peek. He is 7–0 with a 100% knockout rate and coming off an impressive fight on Dana White’s Contender Series that displayed his striking power (and his chin’s durability) to earn a contract. He’ll be facing Erick Gonzalez, who is 14–7 with nine stoppage victories but has gone 0–2 in the UFC so far, losing both via stoppage.

Despite her lengthy layoff, Tatiana Suarez is the biggest betting favorite on the card with a Moneyline ranging between -750 and -850 depending on which sportsbook you are using. Joe Solecki, who is taking on UFC newcomer Carl Deaton, is the second biggest favorite for Saturday’s event with a Moneyline ranging between -520 and -620. The rest of the fights on the card all have favorites currently listed at -250 or lower. The prop betting markets are still in the process of opening at most sportsbooks, but I’ll definitely be looking for ways to get some better value on Suarez in her return fight this weekend.

Speaking of big UFC returns, one of the most highly-anticipated ones in a while will come the following weekend on March 4th, when Jon Jones returns to face Cyril Gane for the vacant UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 285. That card is one of the more stacked events the promotion has put together recently and promises to be a lot of fun. There’s a decent chance that I will try to build a small parlay or two that begin with fights this weekend and carry over into UFC 285. If so, I’ll be sure to post those with the WagerWire UFC Vegas70 Best Bets, which will be available here this Friday after weigh-ins have been completed.
