Jordan Walker may have made more money in one night than he'll earn during the entire regular season. The Cardinals outfielder entered the Home Run Derby with a 2026 salary of $799,400, but after taking home the Derby crown, he walked away with a $1 million winner's prize, more than his entire salary for the season.

Walker put together a memorable performance in the final round, launching six consecutive home runs to pull away and capture the title. The incredible streak silenced the crowd as the current leader was the City Host’s Kyle Schwarber. This performance immediately cemented itself as one of the most impressive finishes in Home Run Derby history.

The Derby victory also adds to what has been a promising campaign for the young slugger. While the $1 million payday is certainly a nice bonus, the bigger financial reward could still be on the horizon.

If Walker continues his strong play throughout the second half of the season, he could position himself for a massive contract extension this offseason. The Cardinals have long viewed the former top prospect as a cornerstone of their future, and another productive stretch at the plate would only strengthen his case for a long-term deal. For now, Walker leaves All-Star Week with a Home Run Derby trophy, a $1 million check, and plenty of momentum heading into the second half of the season.
