I was extremely excited to see if Jerry Jeudy and Russell Wilson would start clicking after the Week 9 bye week. Jeudy was coming off a Week 7 game with 11 Targets, 7 catches for 96 yards in addition to a Week 8 performance of 6 catches on 7 targets, for 63 yards and a touchdown. The Fred
Biletnikoff Award Winner(best college wide receiver), and 15th pick of the 2020 draft was looking like the 2022 product we hoped for back in September.
The bye week comes and goes, and we enter Week 10. I was licking my chops when the Broncos started their Week 10 game against the Titans. A great matchup, and some great matchups ahead(mainly the fantasy playoffs) for Jerry Jeudy.
The possibility of Jeudy and Wilson being the fantasy stack we hoped for, had a glimmer of hope. On the first drive, Wilson targets Jeudy and an incomplete pass. It would be the end of Jeudy’s day as he hurt his ankle, and would go on to miss the next two games as well. That glimmer of hope had disappeared once again! The Broncos went on the next two weeks to
do 2022 Bronco things and look terrible on offense.
Week 13 and a matchup with the Ravens. The offense as a whole struggled as they put up 9 points in 60 minutes of football. However, Jeudy came back from his ankle injury to play 38% of snaps and have 4 catches on 4 targets for 65 yards. The glimmer of hope has returned!
Jeudy should only increase in his snap count and be back up to the 85% plus mark throughout the next few weeks. Weeks 14 through 17, the Broncos have the Chiefs, Cardinals, Rams, and Chiefs. That is JUICY for wide receivers.
The Chiefs are giving up the fourth most points to fantasy wide receivers on the year. There will be points put up by KC and the Broncos will need to throw. I know, we have not mentioned the 2022 version of Russell Wilson.
This was the main thought heading into Week 1. After struggling for each of the previous two seasons, Jeudy should finally perform at a high level
thanks to the signing of quarterback Russell Wilson.
Well….That has not exactly been the case, but we discussed Jeudy in length, and Wilson is not Zach Wilson. It has been a tough year for Russ, but he has a track record of having no problem getting it done through the air (He does have a Career QB rating of over 100, 300 TDs, over 39,000 passing Yards, and a 64.7 Completion %).
Russell is airing it out or at least trying to. He is attempting 15+ yard pass attempts on 25% of his throws. With the deep threat of Jeudy, this is a good number to see. Add in the explosive ability of Jeudy to take a slant to the house, and we have reason to be hopeful.
Week 15 brings the Cardinals who on the season are giving up the sixteenth most ppg to wideouts, but are giving up the eighth-most over their last 8. Week 16 brings the Rams and their seventh-most ppg to wideouts on the season, eighteenth over the last 8, but fourth-most the last 3 weeks! Week 17 brings the Chiefs team that the Broncos will face this Sunday.
Whether it is a shootout, throwing from behind, or playing in a tight one, Russ and Jeudy should be able to cook. With the necessity of probably having to throw a lot in the two Chiefs games, and no Courtland Sutton(or a limited version), no KJ Hamler, a Latavius Murray backfield, and a solid tight end in Greg D…Jeudy should be fed, and fed a lot. Stack it!
