Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must have started in fewer than 60 percent of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. Scoring thresholds (0.5 PPR) – QB: 18 fantasy points; RB: 12 fantasy points (10 for shockers); WR: 11 fantasy points; TE: 10 fantasy points.

Parents with children of a certain age both adore and abhor Christmas Day. Yes, the kiddos are fueled with glee in anticipation of what Santa left them under the tree, but sleeping off the cups of cheer from the night before is nearly impossible.

Most annoying is the labor. Oh, the endless meticulous labor.

Soon after presents are shredded, the real work begins. Endless hours are spent unpacking and assembling. The process is intricate and exhausting. Sometimes, the included instructions offer an assist. Other times, winging it is the most efficient solution.

Eventually, confusion is conquered. The must-have toy is built, and it is played with for approximately three minutes. Thanks, Kris Kringle.

Still, despite the predictable annoyances, none of us would trade in a household enveloped in warmth and joy for anything. OK, maybe a fantasy championship.

Inside Purdy’s head, a similar bittersweet sentiment is taking laps. Yes, the 49ers — a Super Bowl favorite only months ago — were officially eliminated from the playoff picture last Sunday, but the 2022 NFL Draft’s Mr. Irrelevant still feels fortunate.

Through all of the injuries and franchise turmoil, the San Francisco quarterback has averaged the No. 9 most-valuable per-game QB line in fantasy. Overall, he’s top-15 in four different accuracy categories, QB5 in QBR and QB4 in adjusted air yards per attempt.

Detroit team doctors have earned their paychecks this season. Numerous physical setbacks — on the defensive side especially — have seriously clouded the Lions’ once blindingly bright playoff future. Since Week 10, Dan Campbell’s crew is a lackluster No. 15 in dropback EPA D, surrendering 7.7 passing yards per attempt, 244.7 passing yards per game and 10 total touchdowns to QBs.

With a questionable ground game and given Detroit’s explosive offense, Purdy could meet or exceed 40 passing attempts in back-to-back weeks.

Most importantly, all that’s required for managers to play him is one simple click.

Fearless Forecast: 304 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 1 interception, 15 rushing yards, 13.7 fantasy points

Gamers who are hoping to score a trophy under the tree better not forget to attach a shiny Bo. It’s only appropriate. While fantasy managers have continuously put trust in bigger brand names like Patrick Mahomes, Tua Tagovailoa and an ancient Aaron Rodgers, all the Denver rookie has done is post repeated 20-plus fantasy point performances. In fact, he crossed that threshold in four of his last six games. Remarkably accurate despite the occasional interception, Nix ranks QB4 in adjusted completion percentage since Week 4. Running for at least 20 yards in back-to-back games, he has produced fruitful ground production to cancel out turnovers. This week, he is a dark horse for QB1 honors. Defensively, the Bengals are an overcooked Griswold turkey — minus the toughness. Since Week 10, they’re No. 20 in pass EPA defense, giving up 8.0 passing yards per attempt, 273.2 passing yards per game, nine passing TDs and THE most fantasy points to QBs. In a likely scoreboard-malfunctioning game, Bo-lieve.

Fearless Forecast: 268 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 22 rushing yards, 27.6 fantasy points

Season record: 21-10
