Wimbledon 2024 best bet: All-American parlay for the Fourth of July

The early rounds of Wimbledon offer very little in the way of sensible plus-money wagers. Perusing various sportsbooks for Thursday’s schedule added to the growing disinterest until a great idea came to mind.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with an all-American parlay.

Ignore those unrewarding moneylines. Ditch the risky total game props. Let’s have some fun by combining two plays in the total sets market.

So to celebrate America’s independence, here’s a two-leg parlay that features American women who are favored to advance on the 248th birthday of the good ol’ U.S. of A.

The pick — Madison Keys to win in two sets, Jessica Pegula to win in two sets (+120, Caesars)

Instead of losing a finger or two setting off illegal fireworks, bet on Keys and Pegula to blow away their second-round opponents in straight-set victories.

Keys, seeded 12th and ranked 13th in the world, is a -1400 favorite to win outright against unseeded Yafan Wang. The two have met just once in 2018, when Keys won in straight sets at the Wuhan Open. A 2-0 sets victory by Keys is listed at -140.

Pegula, seeded fifth and ranked fifth, is a -350 favorite to defeat Xinyu Wang. The 42nd-ranked Wang needed three sets to get past No. 48 Viktoriya Tomova, while Pegula cruised past Ashlyn Krueger, a fellow American ranked 75th, in a 6-2, 6-0 rout. A 2-0 sets win by Pegula is listed at -350.
