For 55 minutes of action on Monday Night, the New Orleans Saints had Tom Brady looking completely baffled. And not just in the way that Dennis Allen defenses usually have Brady under wraps, but in a way that made you wonder if TB12 was done for and about to hang em up, and run back to Gisele post game.
And then, as we have seen so many times over the past 20+ years, the GOAT came alive. Trailing by 13, the Bucs took possession backed up on their own 10 yard line. With 90 yards separating them from even making it a one possession game, things seemed completely hopeless at One Buc place, as the Saints possessed a 98% chance of victory. Tampas offense to this point consisted of 3 and outs, overthrows, drops, and fumbles. Nothing but a measly 3 points, which happened to come on their opening drive of the ball game. With the Saints seemingly going from a dominant defense to the self-sabotaging prevent, Brady dinked and dunked his way to midfield, before taking a deep shot that ultimately ended with a PI in the end zone and the ball on the Saints 1. After a play action TD pass, the Goat still saw their chances of winning the game at around 18%. With 2:50 to play, the Saints needed but a singular first down to ice the clock and put it away. After a run, and a sack, it looked like they would get it on a dime from Andy Dalton to a streaking Taysum Hill, until a Bucs safety laid his body out to break up the pass. With the clock stopping for an incompletion, Tampa would get the ball back with a timeout in their back pocket. Even at this point, with the Bucs only being able to find the End Zone once on the night, New Orleans had a 77% chance to close the deal. I’ll tell you what, those odds might be accurate for most teams, but when Tom Brady is on the other side about to load up his 2 minute offense, there is no question who the favorite should be to come out on top. Im not a math guy, but my analytics tell me that when Brady has the ball down 6 with 2 minutes left, his teams are winning 99% of the time. Sure enough, Brady surgically picked New Orleans apart, and quickly got into the Red Zone. Even after a holding penalty had a Chris Godwin TD called back, Brady found Rashad White with 3 seconds to go, in one of the most masterful late game heroic performances of his unbelievable career. The play Before the final TD pass, ESPN gave NO a 55% chance to win the game. When will we learn that #12 in simply different. The Win probabilities do not apply to him, and the first 58 minutes of the game is completely irrelevant when he takes the field in a 2 minute drill. The man does not quit, and we should never count him out. An incredible night of Football, and another historic comeback by the GOAT.
